I just Drolled out of Nashville in my big rig headin' south
My Aeyes are on fire feels like Gcotton in my Dmouth
DMy whole body's achin' but I got to make them big wheels roll
I got to Abe in Florida by tomorrow morning with a Gfull heavy Dload
Couplet
I Dgot to get passed Atlanta as soon as I can tonight
I got to Atry to dodge the scales and stay Gout of Smoky's Dsight
DBut there's one big thing standin' like a nightmare in my way
I got to Atop Monteagle Mountain a Glittle bit later to-Dday
Refrain
Goin' Gdown Monteagle Mountain on DI-24
It's Ahell for a trucker when the Gdevil's at your Ddoor
He'll Gtempt you and tell you Dcome on let her roll
'Cause the Amountain wants your rig and Gtrucker I want your Dsoul
Couplet
DWhen I started down Monteagle the brakes just wouldn't hold
I Aknew I was in trouble and a-Gbout to lose Dcontrol
DThe runaway ramp was waitin' I saw the warnin' sign
I said ALord help me make it have Gmercy on this soul of Dmine
Couplet
DWell I ploughed into that runaway ramp and I could feel that big truck groan
My Alife flashed right before my eyes and for a Gminute I thought I was Dgone
DBut when the smoke cleared I thanked God that I was still alive
'Cause when there's a Arunaway on Monteagle some Gtruckers don't sur-Dvive
