SGhe grew up plain and simple in a fCarming town.
Her dDaddy played the fiddle and used to do the calling when they hGad hoedowns.
She says the nEmeighbors would come and they'd move all my grandma's fCurniture 'round.
And there'd be tDwenty or more there on the old wooden floor dancin' to a Gcountry sound.
TGhe Carters and Jimmy Rodgers played her fCavourite songs.
And on SDaturday nights there was a radio show and she would sGing along.
And I'll nEmever forget her face when she reveCaled to me
That she'd dreamed about sDinging at The Grand Ol' OGpry.
HGer eyes oh how they sparkled when she sCang those songs.
While she was hDanging the clothes on the line I was a kid just a hGummin' along.
Well I'd be pEmlaying in the grass to her what might've seemed obCliviously
But there aDin't no doubt about it: she sure made her mGark on me.
An' she pGlayed old gospel records on the pChonograph.
She tDurned them up loud and we'd sing along but those dGays have passed.
Just nEmow that I am older it oCccurs to me
That I was sDinging in the grandest oprGy.
And we sang SGweet Rose of Sharon ACbide With Me
'Til I rDide The Gospel Ship to Heaven's JGubilee.
And In That GreEmat Triumphant Morning my soul wilCl be free
And My Burdens DWill Be Lifted when my Saviour's face I see. G
So I Don't WaGnt to Get Adjusted to CThis World below
But I knDow He'll Pilot Me 'til it comes tGime to go.
Oh nothing on Emthis earth is half as dear to meC
As the sound of my Mama's ODpry G
