How it works
Campfire Songbook keeps the lyrics and guitar chords in sync for the whole sing-along, on every screen at once. Pick your role below for the detailed guide.
The idea is simple: one person creates a campfire — a shared room — then everyone joins it from a single link or by scanning a QR code. From then on, the current song, its guitar chords and the line being sung appear in the same place for everyone, at exactly the same time. No more loose lyric photocopies blowing away and no more hunting for the right chords: it is all on screen, readable and in sync, from the first verse to the last. And because everything runs in a plain web page, there is nothing to download or update. Everyone reads the same lyrics and the same guitar chords, so the whole group stays together on every song.
One sing-along, every device
Synchronization runs entirely in the web browser: there is no app to install. One person’s phone, another’s tablet and the musician’s laptop all show the same song and the same current line. When the musician changes song, transposes or moves through the chart, every screen updates on its own within two or three seconds. A phone that joins halfway through a song shows the current line right away, already in place.
It works everywhere, whatever the brand or system: iPhone and iPad (Apple), Android phones and tablets, Windows PCs, Mac and Linux. All you need is a recent browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge — and an internet connection, on Wi-Fi or cellular data. No account is required to join a campfire and follow the song.
Each device also keeps its own personal settings: text size, auto-scroll speed, chords shown or hidden. The sync covers the shared song and progress; reading comfort stays personal to each player. So you can enlarge the text on your phone without changing anything on the musician’s screen. And if a connection drops for a moment, the screen re-syncs by itself as soon as it comes back.
Choose your guide
Whether you sing or play, the goal is the same: a great evening singing together around the fire, without fighting the technology. The two guides above walk through every step, from the first shared link to the last song of the night. Either way, all it takes is one shared link to turn any gathering into a sing-along.
