Add a song

Is a song missing from the songbook? The “Submit a complete song” form walks you from the title to the submission, no account needed. A moderator reviews it before it is published.

1. Open the form

   In the top menu, open “Contribute” and choose “Add a complete song”. The “Submit a complete song” page appears. If you are signed in, the same link opens your personal editor instead: see Create and edit a song.

2. Enter the title, artist and key

   At the top of the form, fill in “Title” (here, Itsy Bitsy Spider) and “Artist” (“Traditional” for a public-domain song). In “Original key”, enter the song’s starting chord, here G, and in “Language”, the language of the lyrics. “Capo” and “Tempo (bpm)” are optional.

   

3. Write the lyrics and chords

   Type or paste the song into the “ChordPro source” box on the left. Each chord goes in square brackets, right before the syllable it falls on: [G]itsy. This format is called ChordPro; the Lyrics and chords guide explains it in detail, and the toolbar can write it for you.

   

   Full example: “Itsy Bitsy Spider” (Traditional, in G)

4. Check the preview

   On the right, the “Synced preview” pane updates as you type: it is what the singers will see. If the editor spots a problem, such as an unknown chord or an unclosed section, a “To check” list appears below the source. The “Preview” button hides the preview to give you more room.

5. Sign your contribution

   Below the editor, “Your name or nickname (optional)”: when filled in, this name appears under “Attributed to”; leave it blank to stay anonymous. “Your email (optional)” is never shown, it only lets a moderator ask you a question. Use “Comment for the moderator (optional)” to give your source or a useful note.

   

6. Certify and send

   Tick “I certify that I have the right to share this content (public domain, my own work, or authorized content).”: a traditional nursery rhyme like Itsy Bitsy Spider is in the public domain. Without an account, complete the anti-bot check above the button, then click “Send for moderation”.

7. What happens next?

   The message “Thank you! The contribution is awaiting moderation and is not public yet.” confirms that your song was sent. A moderator reviews it, fixes a detail if needed, then publishes it in the songbook.

   

Nothing gets lost: the editor keeps a draft of your work in this browser. If you close the page by mistake, it offers “Restore the draft” when you come back.

Remember: a new song, a correction, a strumming pattern and a comment all wait for a moderator’s approval. Only the star rating is saved right away.
