Structure verses, choruses and notes

A well-divided song reads at a glance: every verse and chorus carries its label, and the chorus can be recalled without copying it.

1. Wrap a verse

   Select the lines of the verse, then click the “Verse” icon in the “Structure” group. The editor asks for a title (“Verse”, “Verse 1”…) and wraps your selection in two markers: {sov: Verse} at the start, {eov} at the end.

2. The label in the preview

   The text after the colon becomes the section label, in the preview as on the song page. The long form, {start_of_verse: Verse} … {end_of_verse}, works just the same.

   

3. Make a chorus and recall it

   Select the chorus lines and click “Chorus”: they are wrapped in {soc} and {eoc} and stand out on screen. Further down, “Repeat the chorus” inserts {chorus}, which shows the chorus again without copying its lyrics. For the example, let’s turn the last line into a chorus:

4. Add a direction

   “Comment” adds a note that is shown but not sung: “With hand motions”, “×2”, “Softly”… It is written {comment: …}. Common words — Chorus, Verse 2, Bridge, Spoken, N.C., (twice)… — are shown in the visitor’s language automatically: just write them in yours.

5. A tab for a riff

   Select the lines of a tab and click “Tab”: they are wrapped in {sot} and {eot} and keep their alignment, in a fixed-width font.
